Alone Again in Fukushima

The Director’s converasation with MATSUMURA Naoto

This conversation between Naoto (the subject of the film) and the director Nakamura was recorded in 2020 when the coronavirus pandemic began. In it, they talk about the real situation in Tomioka Town, located within the 20km evacuation zone around the Fukushima power plant, where Naoto continues to live.

2021 marks ten years since the Great East Japan Earthquake that killed 20,000 in Japan, and we purposefully programmed two films related to this historic disaster. Although it has been a decade, it is an ongoing challenge for all survivors and we want to ensure that the world doesn't forget what people went through or the lessons that were learned as a result of the event.
