Mizuma's Comments for Yan
「白鳥はかなしからずや空の青 海のあをにも染まずただよふ」(literal translation: “Swan, wny are you sad? The sky is blue and so is the sea. You waft but never be stained.”) This is a Tanka poem by WAKAYAMA Bokusui that was originally written as a line. The more pure a thing is, the more lonely, it is, and the main character, Tsubame, has been drifting like this bird for a long time. I think everyone can relate to him.
The swallow comes to Japan in summer and flies to warmer regions in winter. In this film, Kaohsiung in Taiwan is the place where swallows fly. I myself have two homes, one in Japan and one in China, and there are no walls or boundaries between them. I hope you will watch this film with that in mind.
