Umezaki joined TV Tokyo in 1989. After working as a news and sports reporter, directed a number of nature documentaries on such places as the Himalayas and a desert, the North Pole. Major international joint projects include Rock’n Roll Farmer (Singapore/Mongolia) and Bonsai meets the World (Malaysia). He won the 2010 ATP Grand Prize in the documentary category for To the top of the world. Also won the “2012 Sunnyside of the Doc Best Pitch Award.” He produced and directed World Solar Challenge 2019.

1989年、テレビ東京入社。報道・スポーツリポーターを経て、ヒマラヤや砂漠、北極などのネイチャードキュメンタリーを数多く演出する。主な国際共同制作作品に「ロックンロール・ファーマー」（シンガポール／モンゴル）、「Bonsai meets the World」（マレーシア）などがある。「世界の頂へ」で2010年ATPグランプリ（ドキュメンタリー部門）受賞。また、2012年Sunny side of the Doc Best Pitch Awardを受賞。「ワールド・ソーラー・チャレンジ2019」を製作・監督。
