Yoshinori Sato was born in Aichi, Japan on February 1975. After graduating high school, he went to the US to study filmmaking at University of Southern California. His second feature film Her Mother was screened at Busan International Film Festival and other festivals all over the world. Shinjuku Tiger is his first documentary film. In 2022, he joined a campaign by Asian filmmakers against war. He made a short documentary for an omnibus film.

1975年2月、愛知県生まれ。高校卒業後、渡米し、南カリフォルニア大学で映画制作を学ぶ。長編2作目『Her Mother』は釜山国際映画祭をはじめ、世界各国の映画祭で上映された。新宿タイガー』は初のドキュメンタリー映画。2022年、アジアの映画人による戦争反対キャンペーンに参加。オムニバス映画用の短編ドキュメンタリーを制作。
