Director Spotlight #5: “Howling”

Dir. Haris M Sheikh

Born in Tokyo in 1994 to a Japanese mother and a Pakistani father, Haris M. Sheikh completed the New Cinema Workshop Creator Course at Chuo University where he graduated with a degree in Economics. His short film, Coming Back, won the Best New Director award at the 2019 Kanazawa Film Fest and was selected for the 8th Kansai Student Film Festival. His short, Teokure no Yoichi, was selected for the 18th independent film contest at the Ueda Castle Town Film Festival and, among others, screened at NCW Film Festival Movies-High 21 in October 2021. Sheikh also participated as a director in "Chu-2 Movie Project 2022", which was supervised by TSUNKU♂.

1994年、東京都出身。母は日本人、父はパキスタン人のハーフ。
中央大学経済学部経済学科卒。ニューシネマワークショップクリエイターコース修了。
短編『カミング、バック』で、カナザワ映画祭「期待の新人監督」(2019)、第8回関西学生映画祭(2019)入選。短編『手遅れの葉一』で、杉並ヒーロー映画祭2021入選、うえだ城下町映画祭第18回自主制作映画コンテストほか入選。2021年10月NCW映画祭「Movies-High 20」招待枠作品。つんく♂総監修「中2映画プロジェクト2022」に監督として携わる。
