Born on June 1, 1973, in Fukuoka Prefecture, Shiraishi made his mark on the film scene with Violent Man (1997), co-directed with Akihiro Kasai, which won the Screenplay and Cinematography awards at the 1998 Hiroshima Film Festival. His next film, The Wind Will Blow (1998), co-directed with Taishi Kondo, garnered the Runner-Up Grand Prix at the 1999 Pia Film Festival. Shiraishi debuted in commercial cinema with True Horror Video: The Movie (2003) and soon gained widespread attention with his faux-documentary horror films, Noroi: The Curse (2005) and Occult (2009). His original video series Senritsu Kaiki File Kowasugi! (2012 onward) achieved cult status for its unique horror style.

In recent years, Shiraishi has directed a range of notable films, including Sadako vs. Kayako (2016), Impossibility Defense (2017), Hell Girl (2019), A Beast in Love (2020), Welcome to the Occult Forest: The Movie (2022), and I Love You! (2022).

1973年6月１日生まれ、福岡県出身。自主映画『暴力人間』（97、笠井暁大と共同監督）でひろしま映像展98で脚本賞、撮影賞を受賞。『風は吹くだろう』（98、近藤太と共同監督）では、ぴあフィルムフェスティバル99で準グランプリを受賞する。『ほんとにあった！呪いのビデオ THE MOVIE』（03）で商業映画デビューを飾り、『ノロイ』（05）、『オカルト』（08）といったフェイクドキュメンタリー形式の作品で注目を集め、2012年より着手したオリジナルビデオのシリーズ『戦慄怪奇ファイル コワすぎ！』はカルト的な人気に。近年の監督作に『貞子vs伽椰子』（16）、『不能犯』（17）、『地獄少女』（19）、『恋するけだもの』（20）、『オカルトの森へようこそTHE MOVIE』（22）、『愛してる！』（22）などがある。
