Meet MATSUMURA Naoto:

Even though it became a part of the evacuation zone following the radiation leak from the Fukushima Dai Ichi nuclear power plant, Naoto still lives in his hometown of Tomioka. Known for his kindness toward animals, he regularly rescues the lost pets and livestock he finds roaming around his town and cares for them by himself.

More than 30 years ago, Naoto was involved in the construction of the Fukushima nuclear power plant, which is located not far from his home. About the tragedy, Naoto said “I never imagined we would experience such a disaster in our time. All the houses that used to be here were swept away by the tsunami. There is no way we can overcome nature."
