Director's Comment
“Shiver” is a wordless symphony on film — a breathtaking portrayal of Kodo and the island of Sado.
Its drums speak directly to the primal core of who we are as Japanese. I want the people of Chicago to hear that pulse, to feel that rhythm echoing through their own bodies.
Why does the sound of taiko pierce the Japanese soul so deeply?
Even we do not truly know. Perhaps it is only those from distant lands who can find the words to express what we cannot.
Let the sound wash over you. Let it awaken something within. Enjoy the experience.
