Masanori Tominaga was born on 31 October 1975 in Ehime Prefecture on the island of Shikoku. His 1999 graduation production piece, "Dolmen," made for the Department of Arts and Sciences at Nihon University College of Art, won the Honorary Mention of the International Jury at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in 2000. His subsequently produced independent films "VICUNAS" (02) and "Kamemushi" (03) were given limited release to theaters. He made his commercial film debut with "The Pavilion Salamandre" (06). His dramatic films include, "Konna Otona no Onnanoko" (07), "Pandora's Box" (09), "Vengeance Can Wait (Ranbo to Taiki)" (10), "Rolling" (15), and "Pumpkin and Mayonnaise" (17). His documentary films include, "Niwa ni Onegai" (10), "The Echo of Astro Boy's Footsteps" (11), and "Manga wo Hamidashita Otoko: Akatsuka Fujio" (16). His television work includes, "Me wo Tojite Giragira” (BeeTV, 11), and was the general director for the mini-series "Dias Police: Ihou Keisatsu” (MBS, 16). He has also directed several music videos for Sōtaisei Riron, a Japanese musical group.
